Pequannock Little League General Rules
 
  • Please pick up all trash on the fields and the surrounding areas. The League is committed to a safe and clean environment for everyone.
  • Coaches and players should inspect fields frequently.
  • Bats & Team equipment should be stored within the team dugout, or behind screens, and not within the area defined by the umpires as “in play”.
  • Equipment should be inspected regularly for the condition of the equipment as well as for proper fit.
  • Catchers must wear catcher’s helmet, mask, throat guard, long model chest protector, shin guards and protective cup with athletic supporter at all times (males) for all practices and games. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Any player warming up a pitcher anywhere, at any time must wear a catcher’s helmet and facemask with a throat guard. A protective cup should be worn also.
  • Encourage all male players to wear protective cups and supporters for practices and games.
  • No swinging bats or throwing baseballs at any time within the walkways and common areas of a Pequannock Little League complex.
  • No throwing bats against dugouts or against backstop.
  • Only a player in the batter’s box may swing a bat. Be aware of the area around you when swinging a bat on deck. No batter due up should have a bat in their hand until they head for the plate.
  • Metal spikes are not permitted.
  • Base coaches must wear helmets.
  • No gum chewing during games.
  • Do not start games or practices when weather or field conditions are not good.
  • Games or practices should not continue if lightning is present.
  • Only players, managers, coaches, and umpires are permitted on the field or in the dugout during games and practice sessions. No non-players.
  • Only 3 coaches are permitted on the field for each team.
  • Batters must wear Little League and NOCSAE approved protective helmets during batting practice and games.
  • All players should be alert and watching the batter on each pitch, during all practices and games.
  • During warm-up drills players should be spaced so that no one is endangered by wild throws or missed catches.
  • Pre-game warm-ups should be performed within the confines of the playing field and not within spectator areas (i.e., playing catch, pepper, etc.)
  •  Head first slides are not permitted, except when the runner is returning to a base.
  • During sliding practice, bases should not be strapped down or anchored.
  • Parents of players who wear glasses should be encouraged to provide “safety glasses”.
  • During a game, players must remain in the dugout at all times.
  • After a game each team must clean up trash in their dugout and surrounding area.
  • Coaches and parents should only park in regular lots near the playing fields. Do not park on residential streets during practices or games.
  • Speed Limit 5 MPH in roadways and parking lots while attending any Pequannock Little League function. Watch for small children around parked cars.
  • No throwing rocks.
  • No Alcohol is allowed in any parking lot, field, or common areas within a Pequannock Little League complex.
  • No playing in parking lots at any time.
  • No playing on and around lawn equipment, or other Park and Recreation vehicles.
  • Use crosswalks when crossing roadways. Always be alert for traffic.
  • No profanity.
  • No horseplay at any time during games at any Pequannock Little League Complex.
  • No climbing fences. No standing behind the backstop with your fingers through the fence.
  • No pets are permitted at Pequannock Little League games and practices.
  • Observe all posted signs. Players and spectators should be alert at all times for foul balls and errant throws.
  • Snack Stands will be inspected by local Health Department officials.
  • No Children under the age of 16 are to be permitted in Snack Stands.
  • No jewelry is to be worn by any player.
  • No smoking during a game.
  • All coaches must have taken the Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. course.
  • First Aid & Safety classes are also recommended.
  • No games shall continue if lightning is present. All players, coaches, and fans should seek cover/safety. Umpires or league officials shall determine when the game may continue.
  • The umpire will call a game due to rain or darkness, unless both coaches agree to stop a game.
